About This Place
Why We Are Here

The “I Don’t Belong Here Escape Hatch” exists because we got tired of seeing people blame themselves for geography problems.
We saw brilliant, sensitive, capable people withering in environments that were actively hostile to their nature. We watched them burn out, break down, and buy into the narrative that they just weren’t “trying hard enough.”
We believe that location is the silent partner in your life. It influences your nervous system, your creativity, your relationships, and your sleep. It is not neutral backdrop. It is active soil.
What We Do

- We Name the Patterns: We provide language for feelings you’ve had at 2 AM but couldn’t articulate.
- We Collect Stories: We share the lived experiences of those who left, not to glamorous digital nomad hubs, but to places that actually felt right.
- We Grant Permission: Permission to leave. Permission to quit. Permission to admit that a “great city” might be terrible for you.
What We Do Not Do
- We are not a relocation service. We won’t help you find a visa or an apartment.
- We are not therapists. If you are in crisis, please seek professional support.
- We do not promise happiness. Moving doesn’t fix everything. But it fixes the wrong things so you can work on the right things.
Who Is Behind This?

This site is curated by observers. We are calm guides who have stood where you are standing: holding a lease that feels like a prison sentence, looking at a skyline that feels like a threat.
We found our way out. We left breadcrumbs for you.
- If accuracy is the choice, we choose accuracy.
- If silence is the choice, we choose silence.
Welcome to the escape hatch.
